Christmas Prayer

Well, today is the day after Christmas.  It's a day when we start cleaning up the Christmas papers and, leftovers, and we start hearing music other than the Christmas carols on the radio.  It is also a day when we start focusing on the year to come.  That is what my prayer today is about.  My prayer today is this:
"Lord, thank you for all the many blessings you have poured out to Mercy Uganda, for the gifts You have given through friends, family, donors, and sponsors, both those we know and those we have never met. Lord I pray that as we prepare for 2012 You will prepare our hearts for what you have planned for us. That you, Lord, will bless the work of our hands, that You will enlarge our boundaries, that You will provide all that we need for this ministry, and for the lives we seek to minister to in Your name.  Lord, as we prepare for 2012 and consider how to face the mountain that is our Faith 500 Vision, that You will provide the land and the resources for the orphanage and the school.  Thank you Lord, that You go before us, that You have already prepared the way before us. Help us to step out in faith, and to trust You, obediently seeking and doing Your will.  Thank You Father.  In Jesus' name.  Amen

Simple prayers

I am starting this new blog, just my own personal blog about my very own heart's desire for Uganda, and for the work the Lord has for Mercy Uganda.  I have been going to Uganda since 2008 and have made about 8 trips so far.  That first trip overwhelmed me, made me feel very inadequate.  I saw poverty like I have never seen before, I saw children with more need than most of us will ever know.  I honestly did not know how I could possibly do anything of any significance.  I struggled with that for weeks, even months, and the Lord began to show me that it isn't so much about what I can do, or the size of the problem....it's about His call on our lives....obedience.  He owns the cattle on a thousand hills....the earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world and those who dwell in it.  He is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent.....He does not need me.  But WOW when He invites you to be a part of what He is doing, that is an amazing, amazing, amazing gift!  When He plants that seed, that tiny little seed in your heart, He grows powerful stuff in there....all we have to do is be obedient, listen, trust, follow. When we do that then the possibilities are endless.  So as I begin my prayers for Mercy Uganda, my very first prayer is this "Lord, help me to trust you and be obedient to Your call on my life.  Help me to serve You and be Your hands, feet, and voice to those who have never met you, that they will come to know You.
